Up for auction is a large 1-1/2” diameter medal
promoting Universal Pictures “The Broken Coin”.
It was a silent film that circulated in 30 reels over 15 weeks.
This is a nice The Broken Coin movie advertising token medal
from the 1915 -1919 era.
The coin is deeply scored to show where it had been ‘broken'.
The Latin inscription on the left of the reverse is somewhat translated.
“Under the floor of the northwest corner of the torture chamber,
y
ou will find treasures of the King of Gretzhoffen.”
The “MI” are the first two letters of Michael III,
which is the profile on the obverse.
Nice gift for a movie buff, or addition to you collection.
