This is a really Lovely and very Unique Vintage Three Piece Chinese (I'm pretty sure - it could be Japanese) Green Glazed
Red Clay Tea Set that includes a Cup with a Lid and a small Plate. Each piece of the set is decorated with two Cranes
Flying
over a Tree.
"The crane is the most popular bird in Chinese history and is a symbol of longevity and auspiciousness. In ancient China the crane was regarded as having a long life span and one Chinese legend says that a immortal rode a crane to heaven. The crane also represents a lasting soaring spirit, health, and happiness."
The cup holds 6 ounces and is marked on the bottom with Hanzi Characters and a Red Chop Mark.
The cup is 3 3/8" high (including lid) by 4 1/4" long by 3 3/8" wide; the plate is 3/4" high with a diameter of 5 1/4" and the set weighs 15.5 ounces.
