    Description

    You are bidding for a very rare ticket from the athletics competition at the Olympic Games 1972 in Munich, Final 5000m men with STEVE PREFONTAINE. Due to the terror attack on September 5th all following competitions were postponed by one day. This is the ticket for September 10th although September 9th is printed on it.
    US long-distance runner Steve Prefontaine finished the 5000 m final as 4th. He was America's big hope in long-distance runs and at that time he set records at every distance from 2000 to 10.000 m. He died at the age of only 24 years in 1975 at an automobile crash near his residence Eugene, Oregon.
    On September 10th US Marathon runner Frank Shorter, who was born in Munich, won the gold medal. Second Gold medal for Team USA on this day:  4 x 100m relay men with new World Record.
