CARIA Antiochia ad Maeandrum. 27 BC-AD 14. Hemiassarion (Bronze, 14 mm, 3.39 g), Paionios, member of the synarchy. ΣEBACTOΣ Bare head of Augustus to right. Rev. ΠAIΩNIOY ΣYNAPXIA ANTIOXEΩN Athena standing left, holding spear with her right hand and round shield with her left. RPC I 2834. Attractive earthen deposits.
Synarchy literally means 'joint rule'. Here, it refers to a committee of magistrates, of which Paionios was a member and which might have been responsible for the coin production of the polis.
