Authentic Ancient Coin of:
Elagabalus' reign (218-222). Mt. Gerazim was the Holy Mountain of Samaria as Mount Zion was to the Jews. In the famous scene of "the Woman of the Well," she asked Jesus where true worship would take place, on Zion or Gerazim, and Jesus replied not at a place, but where there is "Spirit and Truth." Hadrian in the 2nd Jewish war ended Ancient Israel's life. He called Jerusalem, "Aelia Capitolina." A temple in his honor was build on Mt. Gerazim. This coin from Elagabalus honors that temple Neapolis, Samaria, the biblical Shechemis, is now Nablus, Israel. It is the site of Joseph's Tomb and Jacob's well. Jesus spoke here to a Samaritan woman. The city was refounded as Flavia Neopolis after the suppression of the Jewish Revolt. Nablus is home to about half the remaining worldwide Samaritan population of 600.
