    Description

RARE Roman silver coin DINARIUS, Alexander SEVER (222-235 BC)
Rare silver coin denarius, young ruler of the Roman Empire Alexander Sever.  One of the first coins minted with the face of a young ruler.
    ALEXANDER NORTH (Alexander Severus).
Roman emperor from March 6, 222 to 235. Born in Ark (Phoenicia) on October 1, 208. Died on March 19, 235.
The son of Hessius Marcianus and Julia Mamei, Alexander Severus received the throne in 222. One of his first orders was the abolition of judges and the removal from all posts of officials appointed by Heliogabal.
During his reign, the Theater, the Amphitheater, the Circus and the Stadium were restored with funds from taxes collected from public women and their patrons.  The inscriptions on the coins testify to the successful restoration of these objects.  By his order, many buildings were built among the baths, located next to the baths of Nero, to which water was supplied.  They received the name "Alexandrovsky waters".
Around 231 Alexander Severus defeated Artaxerxes in Persia.  In 233, returning to Rome, he organized spectacles and the distribution of gifts to the people, which is marked by four coins.
Alexander Severus and his mother were killed on March 19, 235, in one of the cities of Gaul, either by outraged soldiers, or by order of Maximinus, the supreme commander of the army (Maximin made his way to power, becoming emperor in 235).
One of the historians wrote, characterizing Alexander Severus, that his integrity turned into inflexibility, love of justice - into cruelty, determination - into arrogance and heartlessness.
Alexander Sever was loved by the people;  The Senate deified him.
Alexander Sever united the icons of Abraham, Orpheus, Apollo and Christ in his chapel.  This was an attempt to include Christ among the deities he honored.
Grandmother - Julia Masa (sister of Julia Domna), died in 226;  mother - Julia Mameya, died in 235;  wife - Sallust Barbia Orbiana, marriage 225
During his reign, coins were minted in Rome and Antioch.
