    Description
Lalique medals were made during the second decade of the 20th Century.  They are rare and, of course, very collectible.  This one was p
roduced in 1915 to support the children who were made orphans by the fighting in World War I against the Germans.  The words state: "Orphanage of the Armies"   There is also the signature, R. Lalique
On the medal there is a scantily clad woman holding a nude infant.  This theme reminds us how the war made so
    many
    children fatherless.
The piece is about 29 mm in diameter and quite thin (the second picture is of the reverse side).  It is accompanied by a piece of its original ribbon.    The workmanship is excellent and detailed.  The theme is lovely.  (F4761)
