Description
Pair (2) 1948 New York Port Authority, International Airport Dedication Medals, SILVER and Bronze, Julio Kilenyi, Sc. One each of Silver and Bronze, 75 mm in diameter, and both are uncirculated. The silver is in a custom case with two edge pins allowing the owner to show the obverse or reverse by rotating the medal, it also is constructed so that it can be displayed standing up on a shelf. The silver is quite scarce with a mintage of about 150 medals struck and they were only given to dignitaries and New Yorkers with connections. The bronze were sold to the general public.I have another pair of New York Port Authority medals, also SILVER and bronze, for the dedication of the New Bus Terminal in 1950. Please check it out if interested.
