    Description

    Up for consideration is a National Academy of Sciences bronze medal for James D. Hardy (1904-1985) who was a physiologist and leading researcher on body temperature and the measurement of pain.
    Hardy received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Mississippi and a doctoral degree in physics from Johns Hopkins University.
    Medal measures approx. 2.5” in diameter.
    Obverse has image of Hardy with “MCMLXXIV” and “E. Quentric SC” (Eugene Quentric).
    Reverse has image of a hospital with “James D. Hardy Academic Career 1925-1974 Temperature Regulation Pain” and National Academy of Sciences”.
    Edge stamped “Fia-Lyon” and “Bronze”.
