    Description

At least 30 Native American nations/tribes had at least one member serving in the United States military in WWII (and to a much lesser extent WWI!) as a Code Talker, coordinating the use of his native language to thwart efforts by the enemy to break the codes used by the Allies against the enemy. The Japanese in WWII were especially adept at breaking codes in English, but had little or no knowledge of the languages used by Native Americans. Codes in Native American languages were never broken by the enemy. In 2008 Congress approved the Code Talkers Recognition Act, which authorized the minting of gold medals, recreated on these bronze medals. I thought I had them all until today when there were additional nations/tribes featured on 1.5- ( each) and 3-inch (0 each) medals on the U.S. Mint's webpages. Here's what I have: Navajo, Oneida, Oglala, Sioux, Yankton Sioux, Cherokee, Hopi, Pawnee, Comanche, Choctaw, Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux, Ponca, Meskwaki, Seminole, Tlingit, Standing Rock Siouix, Osage, Pueblo of Acoma, Tonto Apache, Menominee, Ho-Chunk, Kiowa, Lakota, Hunkpati Dakota Oxate Crow Creek, Muscogee Creek, Fort Peck Assiniboine and White Mountain Apache (If I misspelled anything PLEASE let me know so I can fix it!) I'm offering the set at what amounts to less than each, plus shipping. Again, they're each from the U.S. Mint. The complete set of all the medals I ordered are in an attractive binder (which says "coins," sorry about that). for which I'm charging {{detail_product_description}}; it features plastic sleeves to protect both sides of each side while allowing for viewing without removing medals from the binder, #7000 Coin Stock Book, made in Los Angeles by Dansco. One extra blank page. Shipped via the USPS.
