    Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux grew up in a modest family of workers in Valenciennes. He was born at 53, rue Delsaux. His birthplace is remarkable (facade) but the interior is, unfortunately, neglected. He enjoys drawing and wishes to study sculpture against his father's wishes.
