Description
For sale is a Magnum Dynalab 205 FM Signal Sleuth. Made in Canada. The exterior has imperfections (scratches, rust, missing paint) and fingerprints everywhere.Issues:
The Bypass switch has to be wiggled after being switched on to amplify the FM signal. Once it is in the ON position and has been wiggled, it works great. I haven't tried contact cleaner or any other remedy to fix the problem.
Other than the minor issue with the Bypass switch, this unit works well. It has to be tuned to the station that the user intends to listen to. For example, if I want to listen to 104.1, the 205 has to be tuned exactly to that frequency. If the 205 is set to 103, there will be no signal on the tuner. The signal strength jumps when the 205 reaches the correct frequency. The 205 doesn't work with seeking, scanning or moving around the dial. This unit does a great job of boosting the signal of a single station set by the user. I showed two pictures to illustrate the difference between the 205 being on or bypassed. In the first picture, only one LED is lit on the 205 and the signal is bypassed. In the second picture, both LEDs are on and the 205 is boosting the signal.
