- Ancient Roman Coins, in an uncleaned condition from the 200-400s AD! They are from my personal collection and are guaranteed to be authentic or your money back.
These coins were circulated for many years and were used by everyday Romans and provincials going about their lives in the late Roman Empire. They have seen better days, but still can show many interesting details from their striking once cleaned. These coins are thought to have been stuck individually in a grueling metallurgical and artistic process that involved the hand-carving of dies, which each bear the artistic touch of their particular engraver. After many strikes these dies would wear out and new ones would be created, though with slight variations. Because of this, many of these surviving coins are literally the only example remaining of their specific die set.
