Description:
A nice large well struck Olympic participation medal with original, mark free surfaces and a dark brassy color. The medal, which was struck for participants of the 1948 Olympiad in London England depicts a river scene with a bridge and the Westminster Palace and House of Parliament Buildings in London with the text "OLYMPIC GAMES LONDON 1948" below the image with the five intersecting circles logo of the Olympics. The reverse depicts the image of image is of Quadriga winner racing to the left. The image shows a man standing in the center within a circle. The man who is practically nude is holding what looks like a palm branch from the bottom with one hand and from the top with the other. A beautiful and rather scarce medal in absolutely great condition. It is graded by PCGS as MS63 and comes in a plastic holder so labeled and adorned with PCGS' gold shield. A great looking, scarce, and great looking medal in mint state condition to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
