Description
For sale, a receipt from Kalewala Koru Oy, a jewelry company and biggest employer of goldsmiths and jewelry professionals in Finland. It once belonged to my landlady who toured Europe after the 2nd World War. She was there to help with rebuilding. The receipt came into my possession when she sold her home to me. The date, 1948 is my best guess for the receipt, but pretty close. It has been neatly folded in half at some point but has been flat and carefully stored for the past 30 years in a smoke free, dry and cool storage.
Doing a little research and online translating I see a phone number, address and trademark information. I had no luck figuring out the hand written parts or the type on the back except the last word, hopeat is Finnish for silvers.
Researching the company I found from their website that they are still in business, highly respected and do all hand-made, fine jewelry. I also see that they are a philanthropic organization owned by the Kalevala Women's Association which supports Finnish culture. They award grants for preserving, and researching Finnish cultural heritage. Their mission is "to be profitable so we can do good."
See many other vintage and antique items at my other listings.
