    Description

    German Allegoric Deity Medal Diligence & Good Behavior Stuttgart Stallion Shield
    Striking Details; Exquisitely Depicted Allegorical Creation and Engraving by an Unknown (to Me) Medalist.
    Most assuredly ranked up with the Classics; Wyon, Dupre, Pistrucci, and other Master Metal Engravers.
    This Piece is an Unnamed Award medal "For Diligence And Good Behavior";
    As legend reads on the Reverse: "Für Fleiss und gutes Betragen"
    The Reverse Legend is Crowned by a Six-pointed Star; All of which is contained within a Wreath;
    Tied at the base, joining the Loral & Oak Branches.
    The Obverse (My Favorite side) has a central Allegoric Maiden adorned with Lion Head Shoulder Clasped Roman
    Stola or Greek Ionic Chiton; having an under-breast belt, accenting the deity’s anatomy. The seated Divinity has
    her arm extended, presenting a Laureate with flowing ribbons. To her side, a Shield with the Arms of Stuttgart.
    (Same as associated with Porsche Automotive of Stuttgart, Germany)
    The Legend reads: "verein knabenhort Stuttgart"
    “Vereim” means an association (Like a Club but more formal)
    “Knabenhort” Was used to refer to a Boys Academy, School, or Home for Orphans.
    Stuttgart Entered the German Empire in 1871. Stuttgart expanded tremendously over the
    last quarter of the 19TH Century. For the First Decade of the 20TH Century Stuttgart flourished.
    The upcoming World War I took its toll on the Cultural Growth of Stuttgart.
    I believe this Medal to have been minted Prior to World War I.
    Furthermore, because of the style and type of wording used, I believe there is a good chance this piece
    may have been minted in the 19TH Century; possibly prior to 1871 (But I have No Proof of Mintage year).
    I have found references to Verein Knabenhort Stuttgart in books from 1896 through 1910.
    However, they are all written in German, which I do not understand.
    Regarding Shipping:
    EBay has recently changed the way Buyers can Pay and Sellers Get their Proceeds.
    For almost 20 years now, I have shipped my sold items the Day after the payment clears.
    With the introduction of “Immediate payment with a Buy-It-Now”, I’ve always given NEXT DAY SHIPPING.
    However, with the last sale I made AND EBAY’S NEW METHODS, I did not receive my payment for FOUR DAYS.
    Therefore, I have put a 4 day turnaround time on all of my listings;
    HOWEVER,
    I WILL SHIP THE ITEM THE DAY AFTER THE PROCEEDS HIT MY BANK
    .
    Sorry, but the shipping costs come out of the Proceeds after eBay takes 12.55% OFF THE TOP OF EVERYTHING.
