Chinese Export Porcelain Demitasse Cup & Saucer Hand Painted in Hong Kong

Description

Very thin, almost egg shell quality porcelain demitasse cup and saucer, beautifully hand decorated with flowers, and on the saucers, a butterfly and grasshopper. These came from a demitasse collection from my grandmother, probably date to the 30s. The porcelain ground is white with a very subtle blue tint.
Workshops in Hong Kong began hand decorating Chinese porcelain for export in the late 20s, specializing in hand painted designs from Chinese art and literature. The industry today is almost dead.
Condition is very good: No chips, cracks or crazing.
