ANTIQUE FRENCH CRANBERRY GLASS AND GILT ORMOLU VANITY SHIP DRESSING STAND

Description

A beautiful and hard to find Victorian cranberry glass and gilt ormolu vanity or dressing table in shape of a figural sailing ship dating from circa 1885. The glass body is highlighted with gold decoration, the sail is a beveled mirror. The ropes, flag, anchor and rudder are gilded brass. It is standing on four matching leaf shaped feet and has two attached filigree holders, one containing a small cranberry glass basket with gilt filigree sides. Originally there probably used to be a basket on each side. The piece is in great condition with no chips, cracks or damages. There is age related wear to the gilding and the usual factory irregularities of antique glass like small air bubbles.
Size approx. 9 1/2" by 4" and approx. 13 1/4"  high.
