This stunning silver medal honoring the United States Air Force is the first release of a 6-medal U.S. Mint series commemorating the six branches of the United States Armed Forces. Although the National Security Act of 1947 officially established the Air Force as an independent entity, the military branch had been formed forty years earlier, in 1907, as the Aeronautical Division of the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
This 2021 U.S. Air Force Medal contains 2.50 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
The medal was struck at the Mint's Philadelphia branch.
The medal features a generous 50.80 mm (2 inch) diameter.
The medal earned the First Releases attribution.
Mintage is limited to just 10,000 pieces.
Magnificent Commemorative Designs
Obverse: The obverse features a fully suited jet pilot in the foreground, surrounded by clouds, with a pair of F-22 fighter jets in the background. A break in the cloud cover provides a glimpse of a stylized rural landscape below. Inscribed "U.S. AIR FORCE" above.
Reverse: Three members of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard are featured on the reverse, in a ceremonial pose at the Air Force Memorial. The three spires of the memorial represent the arced contrails of the Air Force Thunderbirds in the missing man formation, which is traditionally executed at Air Force funeral fly-overs. The inscription above cites the core values of the Air Force: "SERVICE BEFORE SELF," "INTEGRITY FIRST" and "EXCELLENCE IN ALL WE DO."

If the product is not returned with all original packaging and bonus items, is incomplete, or is returned after the 30-day return period, the Company reserves the right not to accept the return or to accept the return subject to a 20% restocking fee, in the Company's sole discretion.
