    Up for bid is this 1986 Netherlands Delta Works silver medal commemorating the completion the decade long construction of a system of deltas built to protect the Netherlands from flooding which is estimated to be in uncirculated condition. Please see photos to further evaluate condition.

    On August 4, 1986, the then Queen Beatrix officially opened the Oosterscheldekering, declaring the Delta Works completed. Everyone who contributed to the construction of the barrier, which lasted from 1976 to 1986, was then awarded a medal as a thank you for their efforts in completing this hydraulic masterpiece. On the front, behind the coat of arms and motto, the map of Zeeland is shown with the closing dams according to the original Delta Plan. Surrounded by a border of shells, interrupted by the text 'CLOSING DELTAWERKEN 1986'. On the back an image of part of the woodcut 'Day and Night' by MC Escher from 1938.
