Description
1979 Thomas Alva Edison, "Centennial Of Light" Celebration, Gold Plated Bronze Medal, by Mico Kauffman, Sc. The obverse pictures Thomas Edison, and the reverse pictures the interior of Edison's workshop, as he was inventing the first light bulb. Beautiful high relief portrait of Edison and the workshop scene, contrasting with the glow of 24K gold plating. Bronze, gold plated, 70 mm diameter, and uncirculated, with two tiny spots on Edison's cheek. The edge is impressed "Village Mint, MACO, Bronze, 1979, Thomas Alva Edison Foundation, Inc. Gold Plate". Quite Thick and very heavy. One of the nicest Edison medals that I have seen, and it might be pretty scarce.
