    Up for sale is a commemorative medal from the 1936 "Navy Day" held at Washington Navy Yard, Washington DC
    .
    Description
    : The piece is made from aluminum, and measures approximately 32mm in diameter.
    The
    Lexington
    , sister ship to the aircraft carrier
    Saratoga
    , was commissioned in 1927. She was sunk and lost in May 1942 at the Battle of the Coral Sea.
    Subsequently another Essex-class carrier was renamed the
    Lexington
    at the request of the shipbuilders in Quincy, where the original had been built in the 1920s.
    Condition
    : AU-UNC with a few scuffs. The light streaks on the carrier side appear to be as-made. Please examine the photographs for further details and qualities.
