    Description

    This is the Official Medal struck for the 1933 - 1934 Century of Progress International Exposition, held in Chicago, IL.  Struck in bronze, it is 57 mm (2 1/4") in diameter.  The Official Medal medal was struck in three sizes, this one being the "Middle Brother" to So-called Dollar HK-463 .
    The obverse, done in the Art Deco Style of the period, is a nude man with a flowing loin cloth, positioned between the pillars of Research and Industry.  Vertically it reads RESEARCH - INDUSTRY and on the pillars it has the years 1833 & 1933.The reverse is a birds-eye view of the exposition grounds and lake, with a compass arrow pointing North.  At the rim it reads 1933 A CENTURY OF PROGRESS INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION CHICAGO.
