68mm. Bronze. Edouard-Pierre Blin, Sc. (1877-1946). Uncirculated. Stamped BRONZE on the edge. Struck in Belgium and issued in Paris by Henri Teterger.
Obverse
: with a youthful bust of Lindbergh to the right, CHARLES A. LINDBERGH around. Signed bottom right: E. BLIN.
Reverse:
the
Spirit of St. Louis
at top, rises from a hand-held torch into the clouds above. Below in exergue is an inscription about the New York to Paris flight: NEW-YORK/ MAY 20/ 1927 and PARIS/ MAY 21/ 1927, IN THIRTY-THREE HOURS/ THIRTY MINUTES. Signed along right edge: E.BLIN SCULPTEUER and on the left: H.TETERGER EDITEUR.
The distinctly Art Deco flavor of this medal makes it one of the most popular of the Lindbergh medals. A large 100mm format of this medal was also issued. A beautiful Art Deco design in commemoration of Lucky Lindy's famous transatlantic flight.
