    Description

    Beautiful 1876 Centennial Award
    Medal
The medal is very well done and is one of the most beautiful medals I have ever had the pleasure to offer.  The medal is Uncirculated having a diameter of 3 inches with pristine surfaces.  For accuracy there is a haze over the metal most likely from over 140 years of storage.  I have made
    no
    attempt
to clean it as I believe it should be left alone and that it looks great as is.  The box (tough to find) is well worn as you can see in the pictures.  It is is two parts as the clasp is partially missing.  According to the work by R. W. Julian this medal is listed as bronze but, more correctly, Copper-bronzed (sometimes referred to as mahogany finish medals}--and, about 12,000 pieces were awarded in the Centennial Exhibition.
This is a historical item, at least scarce, and a great piece to own.
The Medal will ship securely packaged.
